Regional Family Medicine offers counseling for diabetic patients to help better control their disease process. We believe self-management of diabetes is at least as important as medications in keeping blood sugar levels under control. Because diabetes is predominantly a lifestyle-driven disease, many patients will see better blood sugar control, lower dosing of medications or even elimination of medication with appropriate attention to their diet, exercise and other lifestyle issues. Your doctor can help you decide when or if changes in your medication are appropriate.
We are very happy to provide a full range of helpful information and instruction on diabetes management and control. Many patients have questions about their ongoing or recent diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Along with our staff of doctors we have two full time nurse practitioners who give diabetic counseling. Ask your doctor if you may benefit from a session on diabetic education.
With proper education and knowledge, you will have the ability to control your diabetes...rather than it controlling you!
